Whitespace Work Software is delighted to announce that we have been selected as a key supplier to Urbaser Ltd following their recent contract award with North and East Hertfordshire District Councils.
Following a full tender process, Urbaser was awarded the seven-year contract, starting in May 2018 to deliver waste and street cleansing services. The agreement will help the Councils make savings in the region of £1.9 million over the term of the contract. The huge saving will be vital in helping the Council balance its books, after learning its budget from central government would be cut again in 2017/18.
Urbaser’s modern refuse collection vehicles have been mounted with TomTom PRO 8275 devices, running our in-cab and mobile working solution – All On Mobile. This allows frontline staff to access the latest service information in real time and submit updates about the service from the field.
Our Telematics solution will help the council make their fleet safer and more efficient by optimising their routes and observing driver’s behaviour.
PowerSuite Domestic will be used to manage the municipal waste service and provide easy access to information, including round progress, for office staff.
Our Dashboard will assist the councils with analytics and reporting, enabling them to measure performance against KPIs more effectively.
Graham McAndrew, EHDC’s executive member for the environment, said: “We’re pleased with the outcome of our joint procurement process that will continue to provide our residents with quality services and good value for their council tax.
“Urbaser’s vehicles will all be fitted with Euro 6 engines and drivers will be trained to monitor fuel use, speed and to minimise unnecessary accelerating and breaking, which is great news for the environment too.”
Michael Weeks, NHDC’s executive member responsible for waste and recycling, added: “We are committed to providing residents with quality services and good value for their council tax and look forward to working in partnership with Urbaser to achieve just that.
“Like many councils, we have a reduced budget from central Government and we need to make savings of £4.2 million pounds annually by 2021/22.
“This measure will go a long way towards helping us achieve this.”
Javier Peiro, managing director for Urbaser Ltd, said: “We are incredibly proud to be selected as a long-term partner for both North Herts and East Herts District Councils.
“We are excited by this opportunity to provide such important services to 280,000 residents and service users.”
“Urbaser is committed to providing our clients with value for money and excellent service levels. We look forward to working with both councils.”
The contract with North and East Hertfordshire District Councils is the first of many to come in partnership with Urbaser. We are excited to work on this project and to help the councils deliver a more efficient and cost-effective service to their residents.
