Whitespace Work Software Ltd is pleased to announce it will be working with Urbaser Ltd to deliver waste collection and street cleansing services to The Borough of Dartford.
Starting from the beginning of July 2019 Urbaser will carry out weekly refuse collections, and fortnightly recycling and garden waste collections, and street cleansing services over the next five years. Using Whitespace’s powerful ICT system will help them provide an effective and efficient waste management operation to the local residents.
The Organisation
The Borough of Dartford is a local government district in the north-west of the county of Kent with a population of 93,600 people. It was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Dartford, the Swanscombe Urban District, and part of the Dartford Rural District.
The Challenge
The Borough of Dartford were keen to deliver a safer and cleaner environment, while minimising waste and increasing waste awareness with its local residents.
The Solution
After an in depth tender process, the new contract was awarded to Urbaser to deliver on these goals whilst using Whitespace’s ICT solutions to help them meet the council’s requirements, manage their waste services better, cheaper and with more efficiency. Dartford Borough Council is the third contract Urbaser has won in the last year, following their success with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council.

The following Whitespace products will be implemented by Urbaser and integrated with Dartford Borough Council’s systems, to help manage the services:
- Whitespace Municipal Waste – to meet the back-office requirements for managing household waste collections
- Whitespace Mobile – to link the crew to the back office and deliver the in-cab operations and vehicle checks
- Whitespace Analytics – to provide end-users with easy to use business intelligence tools and management reporting capability
