Whitespace Work Software Ltd is pleased to announce it will be working with Urbaser Ltd to deliver waste collection, street cleansing and grounds maintenance services to The London Borough of Waltham Forest starting from October 2019.
Over the eight-year contract, Whitespace will support Urbaser through its dynamic Whitespace solution which will help Urbaser provide efficient and valuable services to the local residents of Waltham Forest.
The Organisation
Waltham Forest is located in the northeast of London and has a population of 275,500 residents. It was formed in 1965 following the merger of the municipal boroughs Leyton, Walthamstow and Chingford, and was one of the host boroughs for the London Olympics in 2012.
The Challenge
The council decided to procure the integrated services in April 2017 and went through a detailed tender processes to find a suitable contractor that can provide high-quality services at an affordable rate for the taxpayer.
The Solution
The contract was awarded to Urbaser to deliver quality services at value for money, whilst using Whitespace’s ICT solutions to help them meet the council’s targets. Services will initially continue with minimal disruption to the collections, and then from Spring 2020 residents will be able to recycle more materials, helping the council take another step towards moving materials up the waste hierarchy.

The following Whitespace products will be implemented by Urbaser and integrated with Waltham Forest Council’s systems, to help manage the services:
- Whitespace Municipal Waste– to meet the back-office requirements for managing household waste and recycling collections and street cleansings and grounds maintenance services
- Whitespace Mobile In-Cab– to link the crew to the back office and deliver the in-cab operations and vehicle checks
- Whitespace Analytics– to provide end-users with easy to use business intelligence tools and management reporting capability
- Masternaut Telematics – to provide tracking and help Urbaser have better visibility over their drivers and their fleet
