Whitespace Work Software Ltd is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a waste collection contract for refuse and recycling with Biffa to support their services at Waverley.
The new 8 year collection contract, due to commence on 1 November 2019, will see Biffa deliver Municipal Waste Collection Services, for which Whitespace will provide the software infrastructure to help Biffa and the Council to manage their services effectively.
The borough of Waverley is a local government district in Surrey, with a population of around 123,300 people. It includes the town of Godalming. The council is part of the Surrey Waste Partnership – the authority which manages waste disposal for 11 district and borough councils in the county.
After a in depth tender process, the new contract, has been awarded to Biffa. Biffa will have a new fleet of vehicles and will also offer kerbside recycling collections of textiles and small waste electrical and electronic equipment. These will be in addition to the existing refuse, recycling, food, clinical and green waste collections which already operate in the area.

Whitespace is a key partner in modernising the systems behind the services, playing a valuable contribution to channel shift targets for local authorities. With an array of successfully implemented projects, our solutions have been tested and proven to deliver efficiencies across the board.
The following Whitespace products will be implemented by Biffa and integrated with Waverley Borough Council’s systems, to help manage the services:
- Whitespace Municipal Waste – to meet the back-office requirements for managing household waste collections
- Whitespace Mobile – to link the crew to the back office and deliver the in-cab operations and vehicle checks
- Whitespace Analytics – to provide end-users with easy to use business intelligence tools and management reporting capability
