Whitespace Work Software is pleased to announce that we have successfully implemented our Whitespace Vehicle Telematics solution into FCC Haulage vehicles across the Wiltshire Household Reuse and Recycling Centres (HRRC) contract.
Whitespace have been working closely with Wiltshire Council since 2005 and are delighted to now be assisting at their HRRC sites.
The Organisation
FCC Environment have managed the 8 HRRC sites across Wiltshire since October 2017.
The Challenge
FCC Environment utilise 7 vehicles to manage the transfer of waste to and from the sites and the company were looking to minimise vehicle movements in terms of service delivery.
In addition to better use of vehicle movements, to remain compliant every vehicle and driver needs to log their driving hours. Each week the drivers have to bring their driver ‘Tacho’ cards into the office which adds to downtime on the fleet and can result in penalties to the business if this is not carried out within the required timescales.
The Solution
Whitespace Vehicle Telematics has now allowed for the transport manager at FCC Environment to track in real time the location of all their vehicles. This has saved hours’ worth of driving time from more intelligent dispatching of jobs. The fleet of HGV vehicles are expensive to run therefore the reduction in driving time makes a more efficient fleet, covering less miles and resulting in an improved carbon foot-print.
Furthermore, the solution provides automatic remote Tacho downloads which sends the driver and vehicle hours to the office without any need for driver interaction therefore reducing downtime and ensuring compliance.
The Outcome
The Transport Supervisor at FCC Wiltshire, Brendan Blake, states ‘Since Implementing Whitespace Vehicle Telematics it has provided me with visibility over my entire fleet which enables me to make decisions quickly and accurately without the need for multiple phone calls. The additional idling and driver behaviour information has also allowed me to educate my drivers to reduce fuel and improve their driving habits to prolong the life of the vehicles’
Whitespace currently work with FCC environment on over 10 projects across the UK and are looking forward to another success story at Wiltshire.
